Wayne County Children's Cancer Fund is a not-for-profit organization developed to provide children and their families residing in Wayne County, New York with financial assistance in their diagnosis and treatment of cancer and other chronic disease.
STEAK DINNER FUNDRAISER
Our steak dinner fund raiser will be held on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at Captain Jack's in Sodus Point. You have your choice of steak or chicken, tickets are $25 each. We start at 2pm and go till 6pm. We run a 50/50 each hour on the hour and in between auction off a multitude of great items, tables, gift baskets, flowers, sporting equipment and lots more. You can eat at anytime but be there early so you don't miss out on that auction item you want. Tickets are available at Captain Jack's or through a committee member or by calling Bill at 315-576-0698 .
What We Do
We work closely with a Child Oncology social worker at Strong Hospital. Once we have the referral we meet with the family to try and understand their situation, both financially and emotionally. We try and provide the families with assistance they can not get elsewhere, we have provided gas cards, food, presents and gifts for both the ill child and other children in the family. We try to help with unexpected expenses. Each family is different and so are the things we do for each. We try and offer support so they may focus on the ill child. We have helped with insurance deductibles and even funeral expenses. Each request is reviewed and brought to the committee.
We do not try and compete with other support organizations, we try and work with the social worker to see the necessary support is given. A committee member volunteers to serve as the families contact with the charity so they always have someone to turn to.
Interested in helping? We can always use the help. It may be working with a family, helping at the golf tournament or steak dinner. Getting publicity for us helps to provide for what we do.
